The Experience Itinerary

• The Hike In: You begin the morning with a short, scenic walk down the hill to the sacred Den of Nargun to access the Mitchell River.
• Skill Review: Before tackling the real current, guides host a briefing to inflate rafts and review strokes—crucial preparation since you enter the rapids almost immediately. No experience is necessary, but if you have experience there are many opportunities to improve your paddling ability.
• Instruction: Our guides are there to instruct you in the basics of paddling and maneuvering down the rapids. Already paddle? We can upskill you along the way, with technical feedback on strokes, river running, whitewater technique and more.
• The River Run: You will navigate a rugged 10-kilometre stretch of whitewater rapids through massive rock formations, ending at the Glenaladale bridge.

Key Requirements

• Physical Effort: You must carry all your assigned packrafting gear down to the riverbank inside a hiking pack.
• Paddling Experience: No experience is necessary, but this trip is best suited for the adventurous and those who have a baseline of prior paddling experience, as the whitewater requires active maneuvering.
• Our guides: Our guides are a step above - they are actually kayak/ canoe and raft instructors, so you are in good hands. Our guides are qualified through Paddle Australia, and some hold Outdoor education and teaching qualifications, as well as wilderness first aid, and swiftwater rescue.
