Canoes Plus Adventure Experience run an all- inclusive packraft trip close to Melbourne. If you are just wanting to learn about packrafting or are just looking for a unique, active experience that gets you completely out of the office (without spending hours traveling), come and join us on our all-inclusive packrafting trips right here on the Yarra River.
Think of it as a mix of scenic hiking and pristine river paddling, designed specifically to build confidence, communication, and shared memories. If this sounds fun, and are excited to give it a try, then this all-inclusive trip gives you a taste of the adventure trip, plus some basic skills and techniques.
Zero Experience Needed: We cater to all fitness and skill levels. If they can walk and sit in a boat, they can do this.
Zero Hassle for You: We provide absolutely everything—premium packrafts, paddles, lifejackets, and safety gear. You just show up.
The Perfect Group Size: Our maximum capacity is exactly 6 people per trip, ensuring a highly personal, safe, and tightly-knit group dynamic.
We then paddle down the Homestead to Wittons Section of the Yarra which offers some great grade 2-3 whitewater. Learn the basic strokes and techniques to get you started in Packrafting. First the flatwater strokes and techniques needed, as well as basic self rescue. Then we will move our way down the river for a short river trip. Along the way we will touch on basic river reading and moving water skills. You may need to bring a wetsuit for this or they are available for hire. You will get wet.
This 3 plus hour course will give you a taste of all the things that make packrafting great. A great course to get you started on your new journey. The course takes place on Sundays.
For the really adventurous add a hike across Mt Lofty, and a short hike to the put in. Learn how to pack your raft and gear as well as experiencing the full adventure of packing in to your destination. We discuss packing for overnight journeys, and packing for day trips. You would need to budget an extra hour for this addition.

Details: Start at Lower Homestead Rd in Wonga Park and review some of the basics. We then move through the grade 2 rapids to Wittons Reserve. No experience is necessary for this trip, but a love of the outdoors is helpful.
Duration: About 3 hours total.
Experience Needed: None! Stable two-person inflatable kayaks and expert guides make it ideal for total beginners.
Requirements: Minimum age of 14, must be able to swim 25 meters
Our guides: Our guides are a step above - they are actually kayak/ canoe and raft instructors, so you are in good hands. Our guides are qualified through paddle Australia, and some hold Outdoor education and teaching qualifications, as well as wilderness first aid, and swiftwater rescue.
